Headline: PTI Protesters Reach D-Chowk, Clash with Police and Rangers
Islamabad, November 26, 2024 – A large group of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters have reached D-Chowk in the heart of Islamabad today, pushing back law enforcement authorities and security personnel stationed at the site. The protesters, rallying in support of their leader Imran Khan and demanding political change, managed to break through barricades and confront police and paramilitary rangers in a tense standoff.
The situation escalated when PTI protesters, many of whom had been marching from various parts of the city, clashed with the authorities blocking access to the heavily secured D-Chowk. Eyewitnesses reported that the protesters were throwing stones and chanting slogans against the government while security forces responded with tear gas and rubber bullets in an attempt to disperse the crowd.
Despite the clashes, the PTI demonstrators pushed forward, breaching the security lines and reaching the central protest zone at D-Chowk. Riot police, bolstered by rangers and other security agencies, have since reinforced their positions to prevent further advances.
Local authorities have called for additional reinforcements to ensure the situation remains under control, as tensions continue to mount in the capital. The protests are expected to intensify as PTI leaders vow to continue their fight against what they describe as an “illegitimate government.”
The government has yet to issue a formal statement, but sources indicate that officials are monitoring the situation closely. Security measures across Islamabad have been heightened, with roadblocks set up and emergency services on standby.
